A HISTORY OF JAZZ IN ESSEX, WAS THERE ANY?       …was the question that was put to me when I came up with the idea of this project after learning that the National Jazz Archive had been based in Loughton Essex since 1988. Well after a year  of research and interviews led by Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove, the question was answered.

The result? An exhibition featuring over 60 profiles of musicians, venues, promoters and DJ’s; all of whom, over the years, have helped to turn Essex into one of the premier counties for jazz in the UK! But don’t take our word for it, why not check out the exhibition schedule of where you can view it and find out for yourself.

A history of jazz in Essex? You better believe it…..!

  1. What a good idea! We’ve run a jazz club on the Essex/Suffolk border for around 14 years starting in Ridgewell, Essex, currently over the border at The Cock Inn, Clare, Suffolk. Please see our web site http://www.jazz-nights.com. Roger & Larraine Odell.
